Biography

Leslie is an award winning playwright and actress. Her full-length plays and one-acts have had productions and workshops in New York, California,
New Mexico, Oklahoma, Washington. Her full-length play, DEATH QUILT, was workshopped at The Sundance Institute under the direction of Oskar Eustis. Five of her ten-minute plays have been produced in the Boston Marathon. Her most recent full-length play TWO WIVES IN INDIA had productions in 2010 at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre and in 2011 at the Santa Fe Playhouse.

She has also written and performed five solo shows, which she presented on stages throughout the U.S. These include ME & GEORGE which won the playwrights award from The Massachusetts Cultural Council and Boston’s “Best One Woman Show of the Year”, and was presented at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her solo play ACTION JESUS was presented at the New York International Fringe Festival.

As an actress Leslie has appeared in theatre, television and film, in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and in San Francisco with The American Conservatory Theatre under William Ball, with The Magic Theatre and with The Eureka Theatre.

Leslie’s teaching credits include: Intro to Playwriting at M.I.T. in Cambridge, acting at The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, speech and voice at Circle in the Square in New York.

Awards include: Finalist for the David Mark Cohen Award at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival 2006 with, THE RECKONING. Finalist at The New Harmony Project for PILGRIM. The Playwrights’ award from the Massachusetts Cultural Council for ME & GEORGE.

She has taken workshops from Spalding Gray, Marie Irene Fornes, Jo Anne Akalaitis, Phil Bosokowski, Elaine Segal, Rachel Rosenthal, Pilobolus, Eiko&Komo, Contraband and attended The Bay Playwrights Festival. She attended The Community of Writers at Squaw Valley  in 2013 with her first novel, THE SECOND ACT OF KELSEY BIRD.

Leslie trained with Sanford Meisner at The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York, and with William Ball at The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. In 2006 Leslie received her Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from Boston University.  Leslie is also a graduate of the 4-year program of Theological Education for Ministry from the University of the South.

Leslie is married to the author Frederick Dillen and lives in Santa Fe,
New Mexico.
